Oaks County and Federal Distinctions

Manistee County has two different custodial systems in the same county: the sheriff-run Manistee County Jail and the state-run Oaks Correctional Facility. Searching the wrong system can make a person appear missing when the real issue is transfer, release, sentencing, or a different agency's custody.
